The Central High School of Philadelphia

Central High School is a public magnet secondary school located at the intersection of Ogontz and Olney Avenues in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Central was founded in 1836, making it one of the oldest public high schools in the nation. Central is selective in who it admits and is known for academic excellence.

Central has the authority to grant academic degrees, the only high school in the nation with this power. Graduates who meet the requirements receive a Bachelor of Arts degree

Approximately 2,400 students currently attend Central High School.
